Video Poker Myths
5 December 2008Like all casino games, video poker have dozens of myths or misconceptions that might mislead players into making wrong decisions about where, when and how to play. These superstitions and false information are really mind boggling. Here are some of the many myths and fallacies about video poker.
1. You will likely to win if you insert coins instead of bills: The method of inserting money has nothing to do with winning because odds can be determined by the payback table.
2. A 100%+ Payback will always make you win. This is false because in any gambling games, there is no way to guarantee that you will win in every session you play. Indeed, you will even get different results when you play the video poker machine.
3. You can only get a royal flush for every 40,400 hands. Since every hand is random, there is nothing in the machines that will make this to happen. You cannot get royal flush for 100,000 hands or more but you can get one two hands in a row.
4. You will win more money if you play faster. Most myths have to do with the speed at which you play. They believed that you will win in the long run if there are more rounds or hands of video poker. But this is a fallacy because if each hand has exactly the same odds of winning as another, then this could not yield more wins if you fit more of those hands in a given time period.
5. Higher denomination machines are loose and lower denomination machines are tight. This is false because odds are determined by the payback table only and not by the denomination of the video poker machine.
